RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Some research shows that advertising for high-fat, sugar, or salt (HFSS) products is contributing to a shift in consumer preferences toward products of poor nutritional quality, leading to unhealthy nutritional intakes that increase the risk of obesity and chronic diseases. A strategy of displaying simple and understandable nutritional information (like the front-of-pack nutrition label Nutri-Score) in food messages could be an aid to help guide consumers' choice towards healthier products. METHODS: A randomized controlled experiment was conducted on 27,085 participants randomly assigned to two experimental conditions or a control condition. In both experimental conditions (independent variable: advertising messages with vs. without the Nutri-Score), participants were exposed to advertisements for diversified food products with contrasting nutritional quality and belonging to nine different food categories. Participants were then asked questions about their perception, affective evaluation, and intentions to purchase and consume the products. In the control condition, they were not exposed to the advertisements. RESULTS: Overall, interaction effects between the two variables (1) the messages with vs. without the Nutri-Score and (2) the nutritional quality of products, were significant for all dependent variables, with effect sizes between large and medium. Overall, the better the products' nutritional quality, the more positive their perceptions, affective evaluations, and intentions to buy and consume them. When the Nutri-score was displayed in advertising messages (vs. when it was not), perceptions, affective evaluation, and behavioral intentions: (1) became more positive for products of good nutritional quality (Nutri-score A and B), (2) became more negative for products of poor nutritional quality (Nutri-score D and E), (3) changed little or not at all for products of intermediate nutritional quality (Nutri-Score C). CONCLUSIONS: This research is the first in the literature to demonstrate that displaying the Nutri-Score in advertising messages assists consumers in directing their choices towards healthier foods. Regulations mandating the display of the Nutri-Score in food advertising could be an effective public health measure.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Despite the growing trend in the use of digital technologies in physiotherapy, the overall adoption and satisfaction of both, practice management software (PMS) and electronic health records in physiotherapy clinics has been low and slow over time. Satisfaction of expectations or perceived quality (PQ) is an abstract construct based on the discrepancy between expectations and perceptions, to measure the satisfaction of physiotherapists on PMS. This study aims to develop and validate an instrument to measure PQ on PMS, and to describe the PQ of the currently available physiotherapy PMS. METHODS: Instrument development study with validity and reliability testing. The development of this questionnaire was conducted in 3 phases: identification of attributes to be explored; development of the item pairs and pretesting; pilot study for item reduction, and psychometric testing. The questionnaire was distributed to chartered physiotherapists. A total of 144 participants completed the questionnaire. RESULTS: A series of analyses were conducted to assess item reduction, factor structure of the questionnaire and metric properties of multi-item scales. From the initial 43 attributes, the final version of the Quality Questionnaire on Physiotherapy Practice Management Software consisted of 24 items of PQ on PMS, structured in 3 areas (clinical care, administrative activities, and accounting), which included 11, 9, and 4 items grouped into 4, 3, and 2 scales respectively. The questionnaire proved to be reliable and valid. In multitrait scaling analysis, all scores had strong item-scale correlations, excellent item scaling success, and good internal consistency (Cronbach alpha coefficients of >0.7). CONCLUSIONS: Our study provides a valuable PQ questionnaire on PMS attributes for clinical care, administrative activities, and accounting. The attributes related to clinical care and control stock supplies showed a worse PQ. This suggests that those functions related to clinical care should be improved to facilitate greater satisfaction with physiotherapy PMS.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: While the determinants influencing self-perceived health-related quality of life (spHRQoL) in persons with multiple sclerosis (pwMS) and severe physical impairment have been well investigated, their impact on pwMS with mild disability is poorly addressed. We aimed to investigate possible drivers of spHRQoL among Sardinian pwMS with an EDSS lower than 2.5. METHODS: A sample of 87 fully ambulatory (EDSS < 2.5) pwMS were included after screening for major cognitive impairment. spHRQoL was measured with the Italian version of 36-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36). The Physical Component Summary (PCS) and Mental Component Summary (MCS) were used as dependent variables for univariate analysis with Cognitive Behavioral Assessment (CBA) and specific individual factors as independent variables. Subsequent multivariate general linear models (GLMs) for PCS and MCS respectively were run after stepwise regression. Normative data referring to Italian population were used for comparison. RESULTS: As compared to normative data, no statistically significant difference was found for PCS, while MCS was reduced. Multivariate GLMs showed a significant association between lower PCS scores and presence of psychosomatic symptoms, older age and fatigue (p < 0.05). Furthermore, a significant association was shown between lower MCS scores and presence of anxiety (p < 0.001). CONCLUSION: Mood, presence of psychosomatic symptoms, fatigue and age can have a relevant impact on spHRQoL in people with mildly disabling MS and should be considered in the management of such individuals.

RESUMO

Russia's invasion of Ukraine had a negative impact worldwide, causing a severe energy crisis that also affected EU countries, which are now involved in combating the growing energy prices while also speeding up the deployment of renewable energy sources. This armed conflict impacted the electronic components supply chain, causing high prices and disruption for different raw materials, resulting in material shortages for electronic components and affecting electronic product (EP) manufacturing. Since the start of the geopolitical crisis due to the Russo-Ukrainian War, (dis)information has been disseminated via social media, affecting users' cognition, attitudes, and behavioral intentions. Therefore, this paper aims to assess the impact of social media usage, Russo-Ukrainian war fear, consumers' green values, perceived quality, usage enjoyment, and product image on consumers' purchase intention toward recycled electronic products. Based on the Stimulus-Organism-Response (SOR) approach, the authors propose a conceptual model highlighting the factors that enhance consumers' purchase intentions towards recycled electronic products. The model is tested empirically via quantitative-based research, with data collected from Romania, a close neighbor of the armed conflict, and assessed employing with structural equations modeling via SmartPLS 3.0. Results confirm that social media usage, consumers' green values, and the Russo-Ukrainian war fear do enhance consumers' image of recycled electronic products, thus leading to their increased purchase intention. The novelty of this paper consists in extending the SOR-based research regarding consumers' behavioral intentions toward buying recycled electronic products in the context of the Russo-Ukrainian war. The study highlights important managerial implications for both the electronic industry and retailers selling such goods.

RESUMO

In light of the growing adoption of green products in emerging markets, there's a need to delve deeper into the green purchase behavior GPB of millennials in this context. Using the theory of planned behavior as a foundation, this study aims to improve clarity by developing and testing a theoretical model that establishes the effect of various factors on millennials' GPB. Motivated by this need and recognizing the importance of justifying the theoretical gap, a survey was conducted with 1094 students from the School of Business at King Faisal University, and data were analyzed using SmartPLS-3.3.2 The results reveal that green behavioral control, green environmental awareness, and green product value have positive and significant effects on GPB. In contrast, green product trust, green price sensitivity, and green perceived quality have no significant effect on GPB. The results highlight the significance of these factors in shaping millennials' GPB, providing valuable insights for researchers, marketers, and policymakers. In the future, a cross-sectional study should be conducted using an extensive approach to increase this study's generalizability. This study has theoretical, managerial, and policy implications for the promotion of green products.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The Chinese central government launched the third phase of health system reforms in 2009. After a decade since the initiation of the reform, the health system has witnessed noteworthy gains. However, there is no concurrent improvement in public satisfaction with the health system. This study analysed various factors that influence public satisfaction with the system and examined whether perceived quality of care affects public satisfaction. METHODS: A longitudinal nationally representative survey was used for this study. We used five waves of China Family Panel Studies (CFPS) survey data. The final sample consisted of 145 843 observations. A two-way fixed-effects ordered logistic model was used for the analysis. RESULTS: The results indicate that perceived good quality of care was positively associated with public satisfaction in health system regardless of rural-urban residence. Older adults and individuals with more than 3 years of college education were less likely to be satisfied with the system in rural areas. Personal income and the density of medical professionals in the geographic area tend to improve public satisfaction in rural areas. Having medical insurance coverage and fair or good self-rated health improved the probability of reporting public satisfaction in urban areas. Married people and individuals who lived in the West region were less likely to be satisfied with the health system in urban areas. CONCLUSIONS: Knowledge and skills of healthcare providers or physical quality of facilities are not sufficient in improving public satisfaction in the health system. Policymakers need to identify options to influence the important factors that affect public perception of the system. This analysis identified several policy-amenable factors to improve public perception of the health system in rural and urban China.

RESUMO

(1) Background: The study aimed to assess the patients' perception of the quality of the medical staff's care, the hotel's services, and the hospital's overall impression as well as to determine the best rating scale through a comparative analysis of patient satisfaction questionnaires. (2) Methods: A retrospective study was performed based on satisfaction questionnaires addressed to the patients hospitalized in the Orthopedics and Traumatology departments of the County Clinical Emergency Hospital Oradea between 2015 and 2019. Three different types of questionnaires were used during the study period, with the number of questions varying between 30 (variant A) and 37 (variant C). The evaluation was done using the Likert scales with three, four, or five answer variables. (3) Results: The items that we found to be present in all three categories of surveys and for which at least two different questionnaire variants used the Likert scales with various answer variables were chosen. In terms of the treatment given by the medical staff, hotel services, and the overall perception of the hospital, the patients perceive a higher level of quality. (4) Conclusions: The level of patient overall satisfaction or general impression about the hospital is strongly dependent on the quality of medical care provided by the doctors and the specific hotel conditions of the hospital. The quality assessment using the Likert rating scale with five binary variables is more accurate.

RESUMO

The aim of this study is to examine the general satisfaction with primary health care services in Ukraine among service users and nonusers before and after the implementation of the capitation reform in 2017-2020. Data from a repeated cross-sectional household survey 'Health Index. Ukraine' in 2016-2020 were used. The survey had a sample size of over 10 000 participants per survey round. Effects were estimated using difference-in-differences methods based on matched samples. Our findings show that in general, respondents are 'rather satisfied' with the services of district/family doctors and pediatricians. Satisfaction with family doctors comprised 72.1 % (users) and 69.2 % (nonusers) in 2016; and 75.3 % and 71.9 % in 2020. For pediatrician services, these shares were 73.6 % (users) and 71.1 % (nonusers) in 2016; 74.7 % and 70.2 % in 2020. Our study also revealed an increase in satisfaction with the district/family doctor over time. However, this does not seem to be due to the reform. The results for pediatrician services were mixed. Why satisfaction with primary care is fairly high and slightly increasing over time is unclear. However, we offer several possible explanations, such as low expectations of primary health care, subjective perception of quality of health care services, improved access and affordability, and general improvements in primary health care settings not directly linked to the reform.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: After two years of psychological, physical, social, economic, environmental, and societal challenges, this paper examines the psychological health and well-being of Portuguese students based on their socioemotional skills (SSES), positive youth development (PYD), depression, anxiety, and stress (DASS), as well as the relationship between these variables and their influence on perceived quality of life and life satisfaction. METHODS: This study examined 3235 students from lower to upper secondary, half of whom were female (M = 14.46 ± 1.883 years old). Using SPSS software, descriptive statistics were determined for all variables; mean differences between age and gender were found using ANOVA and the post hoc Scheffe test. Linear regressions with the Enter method were used to study how to predict perceived quality of life and satisfaction with life. RESULTS: Males had scores indicating more SSES|optimism, emotional control, resilience, confidence, sociability, creativity, energy, a sense of belonging to school, and PYD. Girls had better skills for cooperating and relating to teachers but more test anxiety and DASS. Younger adolescents had better psychological health, greater skills, and a better perception of quality of life and life satisfaction when compared to older adolescents. Age, gender, SSES, PYD, and the DASS variables can explain 69% of the variance in life satisfaction, while these variables can explain 60.5% of the variance in perceived quality of life. CONCLUSIONS: These results point to the relevance of SSES for psychological health and well-being, suggesting that interventions should focus on promoting these variables, paying special attention to female gender and age-related challenges.

RESUMO

Even though athletes' experience has been ascertained to shape the perception of quality in sports events, scarce studies have addressed this issue jointly with the intent to join in upcoming comparable sports challenges. (1) Background: The present research investigates how the experience determines the evaluation of the championship and future intentions. (2) Methods: The PLS (SEM) method was evaluated specifically for both novice and experienced duathlon participants, and secondly, the fsQCA methodology was applied with the intention to estimate combinatorial net effects to confirm the hypothesis proposed. (3) Results reveal that the overall quality is equally important for novice and experienced individuals as a determinant of future intentions. However, novices tend to value more positively all the dimensions analyzed, while experienced ones noted higher levels of demand. (4) These findings highlight the importance of designing adequate management strategies for the participants with different levels of performance.

RESUMO

The progress of commercial VR headsets largely depends on the progress of sensor technology, the iteration of which often means longer research and development cycles, and also higher costs. With the continuous maturity and increasing competition of VR headsets, designers need to create a balance among user needs, technologies, and costs to achieve commercial competition advantages. To make accurate judgments, consumer feedback and opinions are particularly important. Due to the increasing maturity in the technology of commercial VR headsets in recent years, the cost has been continuously decreasing, and potential consumers have gradually increased. With the increase in consumer demand for virtual reality headsets, it is particularly important to establish a perceptual quality evaluation system. The relationship between consumer perception and product quality determined by evaluations of experience is improving. Using the research method implemented in this work, through semi-structured interviews and big data analysis of VR headset consumption, the perceptual quality elements of VR headsets are proposed, and the order of importance of perceptual quality attributes is determined by questionnaire surveys, quantitative analysis, and verification. In this study, the perceptual quality elements, including technical perceptual quality (TPQ) and value perceptual quality (VPQ), of 14 types of VR headsets were obtained, and the importance ranking of the VR headsets' perceptual quality attributes was constructed. In theory, this study enriches the research on VR headsets. In practice, this study provides better guidance and suggestions for designing and producing VR headsets so that producers can better understand which sensor technology has met the needs of consumers, and which sensor technology still has room for improvement.

RESUMO

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of listening to self-chosen music on the quality of life of family caregivers of cancer patients receiving palliative home care. A total of 82 family caregivers were assigned either to the intervention group (n = 41) or to the control group (n = 41) in this double-blind, multicentre, randomised controlled clinical trial. The recruitment period was between July 2020 and September 2021. The intervention group received individualised pre-recorded music in daily 30 min sessions for 7 consecutive days. The control group was given a recorded repetition of the basic therapeutic training education also in 30 min sessions for 7 consecutive days. The primary endpoint assessed was the caregivers' quality of life (Quality of Life Family Version and European Quality of Life visual analogue scale) before and after the intervention. The secondary endpoint was their perceived satisfaction with the intervention (Client Satisfaction Questionnaire). The music intervention was successful, producing a tangible improvement in the caregivers' quality of life (p < 0.01) and satisfaction with the care provided (p = 0.002). The intervention was not only effective but produced no adverse effects. This study encourages the use of self-chosen music as a complementary intervention in nursing care for family caregivers of palliative cancer patients.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Health insurance relieves problems with out-of-pocket payments. It is uncertain whether equal care is received by insured and uninsured patients. We compared objective and perceived healthcare quality between insured and uninsured adults at the study site to make appropriate recommendations that would improve healthcare quality. METHODS: We conducted a comparative cross-sectional study at the General Outpatient Clinic of National Hospital, Abuja, Nigeria from February to May 2020. Using systematic sampling, we recruited 238 insured and uninsured adults and interviewed them with a semi-structured questionnaire and an observational checklist (for perceived and objective quality of care respectively). We used the independent t-test and chi-square test to assess the relationship between health insurance status and socio-demographic characteristics, clinical characteristics and perceived and objective quality of care. RESULTS: The mean age (±SD) of participants was 42.0 ± 11.6 years with 131 (55.0%) insured respondents. Overall perceived quality of care was higher among the uninsured (P<0.001). There was no significant difference between insured and uninsured patients concerning the comprehensiveness of objective healthcare quality indicators. CONCLUSION: We found that the uninsured perceived healthcare quality to be better than the insured, which is unexpected. Since the uninsured patients were fewer in number, paid immediately, and had shorter waiting times, they perceived that: health providers respected them more, drugs were more available to them and consulting rooms and health providers were more sufficient. We recommended that the hospital management should commence regular healthcare quality assessments to improve healthcare quality. This could increase the patients' confidence in the health system.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about social changes that have impacted the functioning and dynamics of couples in a romantic relationship, arising from the overwhelming amount of added stress they have endured. Specifically, the divorce rate in Portugal has increased after lockdown, which underscores the adverse consequences of COVID-19 on couples. A lower quality of the couple's relationship may worsen the emotional representation of COVID-19; however, the literature suggests that perceived partner dyadic coping responses have a great influence on adverse events. The aim of the present study was to assess the mediating role of partner coping in the association between relationship quality and emotional representation of COVID-19. We also sought to observe whether the length of the relationship moderates this association. Methods: Participants (N = 528) were adults living in Portugal (84.7% female) currently in a romantic relationship with their current partner for at least 1 year. Online data collection. Results: We found that relationship quality predicted COVID-19 emotional representation, but this association was fully mediated by total dyadic coping. This association was especially significant in couples with a shorter length of time in the relationship. Conclusions: We point out the importance of dyadic coping as a protective factor against emotional distress to cope with the ongoing stressors associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. These data suggest the need for relationship education programs that promote positive coping between partners. RESUMO

The proliferation of quality labels for the same food product questions the relevance of labeling schemes. Based on the theory of legitimacy and research on food-related consumer behavior, this study aims to examine the influence of the perceived legitimacy of a label (PDO) on consumers' perceptions of the quality and purchase intentions of the labeled product. A conceptual model was, therefore, developed to estimate the influence of four dimensions of legitimacy on the perceived quality and purchase intention of PDO-labeled cheese, French cheeses being products whose quality is traditionally linked to their regional origin. Our model was tested on a sample of 600 consumers representative of the French population. Using Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling, results show that for surveyed consumers, the pragmatic, regulative, and moral legitimacy of the PDO label positively influences the perceived quality of PDO-labeled cheese. Furthermore, pragmatic legitimacy has a substantial and direct influence on purchase intention, whereas both regulative and moral legitimacy influence purchase intention only indirectly through perceived quality. Unexpectedly, our findings do not show a significant influence of cognitive legitimacy either on perceived quality or purchase intention. The output of this research contributes to a better understanding of the link between a label's legitimacy, perceived quality, and purchase intention.

Abstract Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders (FGDS) are chronic diseases that constitute a relevant public health problem, associated in previous research with a poorer quality of life. The aim of this study was to study the quality of life in patients attending a Neurogastroenterology Service at an Argentinean public hospital and compare it with a control population. A quantitative and cross-sectional study was carried out including a clinical population diagnosed with some FGD (n = 35) and a control sample without diagnosis of FGD (n = 37). Significant differences were found between people with FGD and control subjects, X 2 (1, N = 70) = 30.23, p < .001 in all sub-dimensions of the Quality of Life Index (MQLI), except Spiritual Fulfillment (SF). Similar to previous research, the results of this study suggest that individuals with FGD show a worse perception of quality of life than the general population. These findings could contribute to the design of interventions that contemplate biopsychosocial variables, with the aim of a comprehensive improvement in the quality of life of people with these disorders.

RESUMO

This article provides a sample of survey data collected by the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI). Using online sampling and stratified interviewing techniques of actual customers of predominantly large market-share ("large cap") companies, the ACSI annually collects data from some 400,000 consumers residing across the United States for more than 400 companies within about 50 consumer industries. For this article and the data depository, consumers' perceptions of their experiences with individual companies included within four consumer industries as defined and measured by ACSI - processed food, commercial airlines, Internet service providers, and commercial banks - are included in the dataset. These industries were chosen to represent and illustrate a cross-section of data from differentiated sectors, not because they are representative of the larger economy or larger ACSI dataset per se. The survey items reflect a diverse array of customers' perceptions regarding prior expectations, perceived quality, perceived value, customer satisfaction, complaint behavior, and customer loyalty. These are also the core latent factors modeled in the so-called ACSI model since 1994. The ACSI model is continuously analyzed using a proprietary and patented Partial Least Squares structural equation modeling approach (PLS-SEM). Detailed firm- or brand-level results from the ACSI data are used by individual companies for strategic organizational decision-making and in the aggregate to forecast trends in the U.S. national economy. ACSI data have been analyzed in thousands of peer-reviewed academic and practitioner journal articles.

RESUMO

The purpose of this study was to determine the antecedents and consequences of patient experience in the context of medical-aesthetic health services. A quantitative study was conducted and data was collected through online surveys. Moreover, data were provided in the field via the administration of questionnaires to patients of medical clinics. The data were analyzed according to structural equation modeling procedures. The results showed that both the relational (communication and involvement) and functional (environment, tangibles, processes, outcomes, competence, monetary cost) dimensions of care have a direct and positive impact on customer experience (CE). This study shows the prevalence of the functional dimension when compared to the relational one, which more strongly influences a patient's CE. Moreover, CE positively impacts perceived quality, overall satisfaction, and loyalty behaviors.

RESUMO

Despite government efforts, many rural Pakistani women forgo regular antenatal visits, are unprepared for birth, and deliver at home or in private facilities, because they are dissatisfied with public health services. This study examined pregnant women's perceptions of public health hospital prenatal care to suggest areas for improvement. Using simple random sampling, 200 pregnant women visiting a secondary care public health facility in Sargodha District, Pakistan, were enrolled in a cross-sectional study. The quality of prenatal care was assessed using a structured and validated questionnaire. Descriptive analysis and multivariate linear regression stepwise models were used. Of participants, 52% consider the services to be of poor quality. Education, income, number of living children, and long waiting time influenced the perceived prenatal care quality in the study population. Stakeholders rated existing services as suboptimal, especially in terms of staff availability and time spent, which reduces service use. Facility managers and policymakers should work to improve the quality of services to satisfy patients, encourage them to use antenatal care, and improve the health of both mother and child, especially in rural areas.
